MOSCOW (S9): Moscow globular clusters (19890820)
FILES: moscow.s9 (129 clusters), moscow.s9n (notefile)

CONTENTS: Moscow Globular clusters - Kambah Australia version, 1989

DATASET: This file comes in HyperSky dataset S-0.4, version 19890820. (part of the original basic dataset supplied with HyperSky) Availability on HyperSky CD-ROM: Vol. 1 (1993)

DESCRIPTION: The HyperSky datafile was extracted from a floppy disk file, available from David Herald of Kambah Observatory in Australia. His description follows:

The data for Globular Clusters has been keyed from the tables given in "Sharavyye zvezdnyye skopleniya, Obshchiy katalog sharovykh zvezdnykh skopleniy nashey Galaktiki, soderzhashchiy privedennyye k yedinoy sisteme kharakteristiki 129 ob'yektov" by B.V. Kukarkin, Nauka Press, Moscow 1974, as presented in NASA Technical Translation F-16,157 (1975).

DATA: The HyperSky datafile contains the following data from the catalog:

MAG: the integrated visual magnitude of the cluster

IDENTIFICATION: cluster identification, NGC or otherwise.

COMMENTS: The comment line contains the following information, provided if available for each cluster:
* angular diameter, arc-minutes
* cluster distance, kiloparsecs

NOTEFILE: The notefile contains the following information, provided
if available for each cluster:
* colors (B-V), (U-B), (V-I)
* Integrated cluster spectral class
* log(m/H) - metallicity of the cluster relative to the Sun

HIGHLIGHTS: Since globular clusters are concentrated around the central bulge of the Milky Way, use of this datafile will reveal large numbers of them in the vicinity of the center of the Milky Way in the constellation of Sagittarius.
